This guide explains how to create a custom Shopify app and connect your Shopify store to FXMedSupport.

Overview

The Shopify integration connects your Shopify store to your FXMedSupport practice through a custom Shopify app. Once connected, you can push your Shopify products to Cerbo and manage memberships, product access, and stats from the FXMedSupport widget. This guide covers the one-time setup, from requesting store access to confirming the connection in Cerbo.

What It Supports

• Secure access to your store through a Shopify collaborator request
• A custom Shopify app created exclusively for your store
• Installing the FXMedSupport app directly inside your Shopify admin
• Pushing all of your Shopify products to Cerbo in one click
• Opening your Shopify app from the FXMedSupport widget in Cerbo

Before You Begin

• A Shopify Partners account
• Admin access to the Shopify store you want to connect, or the store owner available to approve an access request
• Access to the practice's settings in the FXMedSupport admin panel
• Your products added in Shopify, named exactly the same as the matching products in Cerbo

Step 1: Log In to Your Shopify Account

1. Log in to your Shopify admin.
2. Click Settings in the bottom-left corner.
3. At the top of the Settings menu, under your store name, copy your store URL (for example, yourstore.myshopify.com) and save it somewhere handy.
4. Click Users, then click Security.
5. Under Collaborators, click the code next to your store name to copy it, and save it with your store URL.

ℹ️ You'll use the store URL and collaborator code to request access to the store, and the store URL again when you connect the store in FXMedSupport.

Step 2: Request Store Access in Shopify Partners

1. Log in to your Shopify Partners dashboard.
2. Click Stores in the left menu. The Stores page opens in the Dev Dashboard.
3. Click Request store access.
4. Enter your store URL and collaborator code, then send the request.

ℹ️ The store owner receives a notification and must approve the request from Settings → Users in their Shopify admin. Wait for approval before moving on.

Step 3: Create the App in the Dev Dashboard

1. In your Shopify Partners dashboard, click App distribution in the left menu, then click All apps.
2. Click Visit Dev Dashboard.
3. Click Apps in the left menu, then click Create app.
4. Select Create app manually.
5. Enter an App name. You can also enter a Version name (optional).
6. In the App URL field, enter:
7. Make sure Embed app in Shopify admin is checked.
8. In the Allowed redirection URL(s) field, enter these three URLs, separated by commas:
- https://app.fxmedsupport.com/shopify/redirect
- https://app.fxmedsupport.com/plugin/load_configuration
9. Leave Use legacy install flow unchecked.
10. Click Create app at the top right.
11. In the Release version window, add a Description (optional), then click Release.

Step 4: Copy Your App Credentials

1. In the Dev Dashboard, click App settings in the left menu for your new app.
2. Under Credentials, click the copy icon next to Client ID and save it.
3. Click the copy icon next to Client secret and save it. To view the secret first, click the eye icon.

⚠️ Warning: Keep your Client secret private. If it's ever exposed, click Rotate to create a new one, then update it in FXMedSupport.

Step 5: Generate the Install Link

1. Go back to your Shopify Partners dashboard and click App distribution, then All apps.
2. Click the name of your new app.
3. Click Choose distribution.
4. Select Custom distribution, then click Select.
5. In the Store domain field, enter your store URL.
6. If your store belongs to a Shopify Plus organization and you want to install the app on its other stores, check Allow multi-store install for one Plus organization.
7. Click Generate link.
8. Next to Install link, click Copy and save the link.

Step 6: Add the Shopify Details to FXMedSupport

1. In the FXMedSupport admin panel, click Cerbo Users and open the practice you want to connect.
2. Click the Additional Infromation tab.
3. Paste the Client ID into the Shopify API Key field.
4. Paste the Client secret into the Shopify Secret Key field.
5. Scroll down and paste your store URL into both the Store Url and Shopify Admin Url fields.
6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Submit.

Step 7: Install the App on Your Store

1. Open a new browser tab and paste the install link.
2. If prompted, choose your store from the list.
3. On the Install app screen, review the access the app needs, then click Install.
4. The app opens inside your Shopify admin and shows the Plugin Configuration screen.

Step 8: Push Your Products to Cerbo

1. On the Plugin Configuration screen, click Push All Products to MDHQ. MDHQ is Cerbo's former name, so this sends all of your Shopify products to Cerbo.
2. To open the app again later, click its name under Apps in the left menu of your Shopify admin.

⚠️ Warning: Each product in Shopify must be named exactly the same as the matching product in Cerbo. Check your product names before pushing, and whenever you add new products under Products in your Shopify admin.

Step 9: Confirm the Connection in Cerbo

1. On the right side of the Cerbo screen, click the FXMedSupport icon to open the widget.
2. Click AVAILABLE APPS.
3. Under ECOMMERCE, click Shopify. If the app opens, your store is connected.

Troubleshooting

The App URL field shows "Value must be a valid HTTP URL" → Make sure the URL starts with https:// and has no extra spaces.

The redirect URLs won't save → Separate each URL with a comma and remove any line breaks.

The store access request fails → Ask the store owner for the current collaborator code. If they clicked Generate new code, use the new code instead.

The install link opens the wrong store → Check that the Store domain in Custom distribution matches your store URL exactly, then generate a new link.

The Shopify app doesn't open in Cerbo → Confirm the Shopify API Key, Shopify Secret Key, Store Url, and Shopify Admin Url are saved on the practice in FXMedSupport, then click Submit again.

Products don't match in Cerbo → Rename the Shopify products to match their Cerbo names exactly, then click Push All Products to MDHQ again.
